The Gig Economy – nope, it is not science fiction but rather a growing segment of laborers who have inadvertently become entrepreneurs and are spurring the economy. According to new statistics released by the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 30,174 “nonemployer” firms that brought in $1 million to $2,499,999 in 2013. That’s up from 29,494 in 2012 and 26,744 in 2011 across the United States.
